Green light for the future integrated waste treatment Centre of North Yorkshire County and the city of York!

VINCI Environment UK, the exclusive partner of AmeyCespa, got the Notice to Proceed which allows starting the design and build activities of the Energy from Waste unit.

The overall construction shall last 37 months until the end of the commissioning, the site works shall begin in December 2015 for a start-up of the plant expected in 2018.

All residual household waste treated every year in the facility at Allerton Park will be processed through a first mechanical sorting. The resulting organic fraction will allow the production of biogas through anaerobic digestion. In parallel, the remaining 320,000 tpa of sorted waste will feed 2 combustion lines of 20 tph each, which will supply 25MW of electricity into the grid. This renewable energy shall cover the needs of more than 40,000 homes nearby.

Since 2011, the profitability of the future project Allerton Waste Recovery Park, has been completely reviewed by the engineers of VINCI Environment UK. Building on its recent experiences, VINCI Environnement improved the energy revenues and reduced the plant operating costs through the optimization of all processes. The flue gas treatment, for example, has been fully redesigned to consume less reagents and produce less residues while maintaining the purification efficiency.
